WOULD THE REAL ELVIS PLEASE STEP FORWARD (27/01/2003)

The transport industry was hit by Elvis fever recently, when over 100 industry professionals dressed as Elvis, poured into the Britannia Football Stadium at Stoke on Trent to watch Stoke City face Portsmouth.

The event received enormous publicity in the national press and was even featured on BBC1's 'They Think It's All Over'!

Organised annually by Simon Dudley and Mike Furnival of Transrent Trailer Rental Ltd, the troupe of Elvis's came from far and wide including London, Scotland, Manchester and Liverpool, and added greatly to the atmosphere, whipping up the crowd, and flanked with a banner proclaiming 'Elvis is a Stokie - 100 Elvis's can't be wrong'.

Simon Dudley, Regional Sales Manager, said "No less than 104 Elvis impersonators turned up on the day, which included Transrent employees, customers, equipment manufacturers and suppliers and even our competitors in the trailer rental market".

Mike Furnival, Transrent Regional Director, added, "Last year we flew into the stadium as Batman, but this year, Elvis was chosen to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his death (and also because he wore very funny clothes!). The day was absolutely superb and was applauded by both customers and suppliers alike, and we would like to thank everyone who came along and supported the event. And for 2003? ...watch this space!"
